The concept of transforming a time-scale is not new. There's one precedent
worth noting: in 1200 AD, Perotin explored a similar idea by stretching
plainchant melodies to extreme length, as a backdrop for new material.
Perotin's stretching was approximetly to the same degree as Leif Inge's
Beethoven (which is stretched by a factor of 24).
