AN HOUR OF 24 HOUR BEETHOVEN

Opsound kicks off a new series of listening salons in New York with a
presentation by Norwegian sound artist Leif Inge, to be held on Monday,
April 12th at 8PM, at the Free103point9 gallery at 97 S. 6th Street in
Williamsburg, Brooklyn. Inge will be introducing his project, 9 Beet
Stretch, a 24-hour version of Beethoven's 9th Symphony. He will play
excerpts from the piece and host a short discussion.

In conjunction with the presentation, Inge's piece, 9 Beet Stretch,
will be streamed in its entirety from the Opsound website (opsound.org)
and excerpts will also be broadcast by BION (Brooklyn Information
Outreach Network), a loose confederacy of low wattage broadcast and
webcast enthusiasts currently simulcasting musical and other sound
events throughout North Brooklyn. Leif Inge's presentation will also be
streamed on free103point9's online radio broadcast.

In an interview with Jacki Lyden on National Public Radio, Inge said,
"When I did this, I primarily wanted to make a piece where the duration
is so long that the sensation of composition disappeared. It doesn't
really have beginnings or ends you need to concern about. You can enjoy
the time you actually spend to get at it wherever in the piece you
are."

Ingvar Nordin wrote at Sonoloco Records Reviews: "What a treat! I am
utterly overpowered, or should I say uplifted, elevated, blown away
towards soaring skies, riding away on a ray of Beethovenesque light
between the clouds of summer."

Leif Inge is an artist based in Oslo, Norway. 9 Beet Stretch has been
featured on NPR, the CBC, Resonance FM radio, and in the Village Voice.
It was first produced for Free Manifesta, Sal Randolph’s contribution
to the European Biennial Manifesta 4, at the Frankfurter Kunstverein,
Frankfurt, Germany. The work has been exhibited and performed at
diverse venues such as Brakstad Konsept inkl. Galleri, Oslo; SEA03
(Scarborough Electroacoustics) Creative Music Technology Department,
University of Hull, curated by Peter Elsdon; GSU Galleries, Pulse
Field, Atlanta, curated by Douglas Kahn and Craig Dongoski; Burning
Man, Black Rock, performed by Clifford Reese.

A full length DVD release of 9 Beet Stretch is forthcoming from Table
of Elements. The piece can currently be downloaded from the Opsound
Open Pool (http://www.opsound.org/opsound/pool/inge.html) or streamed
from the Norwegian Network for Technology, Acoustics and Music (notam)
website (Leif Inge: http://www.notam02.no/9/)
