There was a magazine called Option, published in the US, that covered
a wide range of music from free-jazz and new music to pop and
hip-hop. In fact, I remember ocassionally picking it up specifically
because they covered hip-hop, which I don't remember the Wire doing at
the time (mid 90's -- though my memory could be off on this). Option
unfortunately ceased publication a few years back.

There was also in the early 90's a television program on NBC (I think)
hosted by David Sandborn called Night Music. Guests ranged from Sting
to Tim Berne and Christian Marclay.
