LIVE SOUND PERFORMANCES BY:

justino[ruidobello]
justino, aka Jorge Bachmann, is a sculpture,
photo-based and sound artist constantly obsessed with
the sounds surrounding him. Since the early 80?s, he
has collected field recordings, exploring the strange,
unique and microcosmic sounds of everyday life. The
artist creates sound atmospheres for his sculpture
installations and uses his compositions exploring
social and sensual constructs and experiences. San
Francisco, CA www.anihilo.com

Neal Morgan
Neal makes songs for fields (lawns, meadows, etc.) and
provides the music, either in recorded form or in
performance, for the viewing of the photographs or
videos of fields he has visited. He is interested in
meditation on a field as a compositional element and
how the resulting emotions and thoughts influence a
listener?s experience of sounds. Berkeley, CA.

Night Night
Night Night's music is composed using various
acoustic, electronic and junk-technology sources,
which are progressively reshaped with scratched CDs
and tape manipulation, Speak N Spell affirmations over
tone poems and stuttered rhythms. Night Night is the
lap-pop alias for Dana Gumbiner, singer and songwriter
with the band Deathray. Sacramento, CA.

Matt Davignon JUST ADDED!
Matt Davignon has developed a unique form of
improvisation over the last 10 years, focusing on
textures, arrhythmic patterns and musical
imperfections. Combining acoustic and electronic
elements, he attempts to create dynamic, biological
music from seemingly limited source material. Matt has
organized events such as the San Francisco Found
Objects Festival and Sound/Shift Oakland. Tonight,
Matt will be presenting a set of entirely solo drum
machine. Oakland, CA

SCREENINGS AND WORKS BY:

Maria Blondeel Video Meteorology: Wondering What the
Sky Sounds Like Tielt (28-08-2002 at 9pm) 12 mins,
Sound Installation Video, 2002)
The tones you hear are produced by an electronic sound
generator installed in a car. A Cmos module and 2
light sensors were attached to the windshield of a car
facing the sky. The pitch and intensity of the sound
changed in real-time according to the light situation.
You hear a mix of high and low pitched square waves
recorded while driving. The recording was made at
night in the country side near Tielt, Belgium. Street
lights became the main element in the work and shape
sequences with speed and distance. Maria pursues a
multidisciplinary approach to time-based experiments
in technology, light and sound and has exhibited her
work in the United States, Europe, Singapore and
Japan. Ghent, Belgium. http://listen.to/street_work

Tom Thayer
Tom uses video games as sound source/instrument
usually accompanying a video game-generated music with
projected movies that are also created with video
games (using the video game as a video camera). Tom is
a visual artist who became interested in the sound and
music scene in DeKalb, IL. Soon he began performing
live sound art performances, creating abstract
techno-music and movies and exhibiting at the Museum
of Contemporary Art in Chicago. Tom is a professor at
Middle Tennessee State University where he continues
creating a new body of paintings, sculptures and
music. Mulfreesboro, TN www.tomthayer.net
