Disorientation is a monthly night of electronic audio-visual performance at

innovative work by both established and emerging electronic artists while
simultaneously expanding the audience for such work.
This month Disorientation features:
Kazumichi Grime
A Sydney based sound and visual artist, his academic background is based in
photography and sound with a brief flirtation with interactive cdrom
projects
whilst completing a Masters in Design degree in 2000.
Grime has collaborated wih Kim Cascone on Layeral Intersect 5 and Anthony
Guerra
on a forthcoming Pneuma cd. He has previously released tracks on numerous
compilations with labels like Zonar, Frigid/Freak
y Loops and Clan Analogue. His tracks/cdroms/sound design have also appeared
in
shows/releases like Variable Resistance (USA), iPhone, d_Art, Waveform, IDN,
Output03 (Germany), Australian Centre for Moving Image, oodStats/codex_CDrom
(USA), Static Museum cdr, experimental short films, video installations,
documentaries and Earlabs.org.
He is currently developing a mini label called Pneuma with Ian Andrews and
Sam
Smith and others and continues to work with other video artists like Sean
Gladwell and Sean O'Brien.
Tesseract
Tesseract Research Laboratories are Cindi Drennan and Justin Maynard, who
have
been exploring live performance using audiovisual media since 1997. The duo
have
worked across the entertainment industry as VJs and installation designers
whilst also developing their own audiovisual theatre projects. Past projects
include "Video Combustion" a live performance by an ensemble of VJs (an
"optical
orchestra") at Performance Space, and VJ performance and lightscape
architecture during Global Beats at the Sydney Opera House. Tesseract's work
explores illuminative sculpture & architecture, real-time improvisational AV
performance, and audience interaction.
Ivan Lisyak
Ivan Lisyak is a sound artist currently studying Electronic Arts (Honours)
at
the University of Western Sydney. His sound work revolves around the
aesthetics
of re composition/ re- eneration of source material. Ivan likes to disregard
the
ideals of 'ownership' within his own work, this allows him to sample/plunder
anything from well-known acts/ artists. He utilises an electric piano to
generate the majority of his own sound material that is then sampled and
processed sometimes beyond recognition later using it as a basis for his
compositions. Past works have featured at the Sydney experimental audio
monthly
'impermanent.audio', exhibition ?i.audio? curated by Caleb.K and Noise
project
on Radio National (ABC).
NEXT MONTH: TERRE THAEMLITZ (US)
