[microsound] [OT] audio recorder question

hi ,
a question reguarding audio recorders for mac ( os9   g3 powerbook )

am currently using an app called Coaster.  when using a usb i-mic,
am unable to hear what would be  the sound out from Coaster ,
unable to moniter the recording
a friend pointed me to  Audio Recorder 1.4

and i see the first persons comments on this app is the same situation 
reguarding
i-mic's and monitoring the sound out .

does anyone have clues on using i-mic's and monitoring when using audio 
recorder's ?
unfortunatly the built-in sound out is no longer functional .
