Allow me to contribute 2 cents worth of info maybe not yet available...

john cage did a poetic piece called "mushroom haiku", a soundfile of which
is available at ubuweb:

its a rendition, translation or actually rather philosophising on the
translation of a japanese haiku,
quite humorous at parts, actually...
and even though i can't remember reading it in (the german translation of)
silence, it seems it can be found in this text.

if anybody digs up footage of said italian tv appearance, that would be very
interesting in deed.

maybe of "further reading" interest...
