[microsound] text to sound conversion

Or if you are looking at a more bloody-mindedly simple

translate "boom-chakka-chakka" to a midi sequence
"kick-hat-snare-hat-snare", the folks on the Supercollider list were
discussing this a coupla months back, you'll have to search the
archives.

Tristan Jehan's patches do a similar thing with spoken voice, using
Max/MSP
http://web.media.mit.edu/~tristan/maxmsp.html
and of course you can cobble yer own thing together in MSP/pd anyway,
interpreting the textual as frequency domain and other such madness.

all run on mac, all are a bit of a pain to use if ya don't already.

but yeah.

cool,

Dear people,

This is something I came across several times already
- the conversion from text to sound.
With this I do not mean the direct text-to-speech
conversion, but the translation from text to sound as
a data type conversion (i.e. the sound is an
unpredictable translation of the given text).

So far, I didn't find any kind of software that
executes this operation (apart from Akira Rabelais'
"Argeïphontes Lyre" - but it doesn't seem to work in
my hands).

Can somebody give me some names of other (Mac)
software that is capable of this kind of conversion?

Thanks,

Steffan
