and though it's not strictly a music program, I really like the vOICe. It's another freeware program, meant to convert webcam signals into sound as an aid for the visually impaired. It'll do animations to about 8 frames per second. It can sonify active windows or your entire PC desktop.

Also, it occurs to me that if bitmaps can be converted to sound, then surely it must be possible to convert movie files into sound (preferably in real-time live video capture.)
