bruce
You lucky mofo. I went to Indiana as well, about 25 years later,
though
I like Autechre, but heard Xenakis first. I came to Xenakis through
involvement w/ contemporary 'classical' music, not even through interest in
electronic music, though Legende d'Eer was in fact the first piece I
heard. Now I own like 4,000 cds of his, of course.
The poll aside, I feel sometimes that history may recognize him as the most
important composer of the second half of the twentieth century. Even if I
listen to Morton Feldman more. Talk about two total badasses. Anyone
ever read the transcript of their conversation thats floating around the
web? I don't have the url, but I imagine that its pretty easy to
find. Its pretty great reading.
