Re: [microsound] firewire sound cards/ audio interfaces

i have used the motu 828mkII for about 10 months... so far it has been excellent and very reliable. however i have had occasional problems (mostly in the beginning) where it stopped recording without explanation, or would record awfully so that when i tried to play things back, they'd be at double speed. i attribute this to the software included, though (audiodesk). it's not great software at all. definitely a poor wo/man's pro-tools or some such. i would probably recommend getting this interface and maybe using logic or something, although that would work out to be quite costly. the sound on the motu is excellent, front panel controls navigable, and the preamps (there are 2) are good. 10 analog inputs (including 2 mic preamps), 8 analog outs, s/pdif / adat i/o, midi... it's comprehensive and has enough features to record live instruments well.

was curious.
what firewire sound cards have people found reliable.
thanks.
