this is what was going through my head too... that if it's truly 'outsider' we wouldn't be able to codify it, because we would never hear it. :)


at the same time, there is greater latitude in the acceptance of 'difficult' visual art than in music. it's easier for people to visit a gallery or experience this sort of visual art alongside their everyday life, where with the same sort of music (that shares that same attitude of 'outsider' aesthetic, whatever the hell that is) you'd probably have to make more effort to experience it; i.e. go to a concert, be in a location, buy an album.
