Re: [microsound] podcasting site?

This is Apples game -- Apple's habits of branding in public spaces
(renting/buying ALL the advertising space in transportation hubs such
as subways and public transit systems) and virtual spaces is
unethical.

Are there really only a few people here who see a problem with this?

Hmm . I've been tracking 'podcasting' for over a year.

Not sure when it really started as i don't read slash.what

but .. I'm pretty sure the 'pod' bit had nothing to do with apple
and everything todo with Adam Curry one of the guys who help build
the first download app . "ipodder"

and .. it wasn't his idea anyway . its all been done before if you
  read some histories.

however .. the use of the term 'pod' helped the whole concept of
'podcasting' flow into popular thinking, and onto the millions of
   (us)pods that were selling.

    . .

I prefer to call it net casting .. but apparently that means
something else, and is misleading ?!?

Personally, I would prefer to use an unbranded word, but my name
is Simon .. do you think of a Retro sound game, a idol judge or
a fisherman who followed a prophet around 2000 years .. ago.

The exciting part is being able to distribute content in really
simple way, to a growing galaxy of people & devices.

If anything . 'podcasting' has hijacked a popular branded name to
  sell an open source project.

I would stop worrying about, which shoe your foot is in, and start
walking to the nearest microphone to create some great content.

Content is what we need to concentrate on, while we are fighting
over names. Crappy content is clogging the bandwidth like weeds
  in the pond.

Communities like microsound would be well served to quietly start
building content channels to support our ideas and culture.

Plus we are already onto vidoeblogging ..

... now what are we going to call that?
