yeah, i guess you have a point.  by the time i was
exposed to the whole "cyberpunk" current (the early
nineties), most of it's exponents were kind of
obsessively technophilic, so i always found the
backstory for gibson's work to be pretty ironic.  but
yeah, what else would you type on in 1983 if you were
a broke aspiring author?
