For this kind of stuff its more important to record without
compression,
no minidisc, it sucks, it will erase all parts of the sound which
they
claim is unaudible, no chance to filter it later, you lose all the
details. Elsewise even a cheap electret mic will deliver quite usable
results, as things like noisefloor or dynamics usually are no
issue for
field recording. Electrets have a very flat response like real
condenser
mics, but need only low voltage to make them run. I have a very small
stereo mic from Aiwa, wich gives me reasonable good results.
