A good review (as good art) is mainly a question of freedom of the 
writer. If she gets paid for writing a review, its likely he would not 
do that if not being paid. But as for me as a listener its pretty rare 
that music touches me deeply, I'd only like to read reviews of writers 
who got touched deeply. (I am seeking the new interesting stuff, I don't 
need to be protected against the usual boring stuff). If you get touched 
and want to share this experience with your readers, thats preaching to 
the not yet converted.
Rare though, but I know how supportive it was when we performed at La 
Mama and our fearfull Daniel (he was in fear to read a bad review) read 
the New York Times next day with the headline "Streamlineing messages 
straight to the heart". I knew we've done something right that evening 
(I knew it before, but did not know if it was perceivable ;-)

If there is no personal touch in a review I am usually bored, but if its 
in there, it certainly grabs my interest.
