As a turntablist, I have been building locked grooves forever. My trick, and it is not exact science, is to use a solid center 7" 45rpm record where I drill out a series of 1/4" holes. Place the drilled out 45 on top of the record you want to skip. Place the needle on the edge of the 45 and it will create a loop. It can be changed by holding the 45 and the loop will disappear. Then let go and the loop returns. You can change the loop by moving the 45 to another hole. If you drill the holes a little bigger then the post on the player it allows to really mutate the loop.
