i came to microsound [et al] trying to find a way to use technology to
make music. i went to conservatories and succeeded there [graduated].
i did composition not performance, so how do you measure the
competency of a composer?
[sound of crickets chirping]
so i didn't follow the path you outline. besides, i have always
thought it was important to have discipline in doing creative work. if
your music matters to you at all, don't you want to put out something
awesome? [which means spending some time working on technique, whether
that's mashing up soundfiles or playing the guitar]
or maybe you just want to get laid, or famous ... [or have the 'right'
technologies]
whatever
