Well...your main options are a minidisc recorder, the and edirol r-1 and
m-audio microtrack flash recorders. The main issue will not be your recorder
but your microphone...i'd suggest finding a cheap minidisc recorder and
spending the bulk of your budget on a decent mic, such as an audio-technica
at-822.

Btw..there's a new edirol r-9 (I think ?) that should be out this summer
that looks quite sweet as well..
