Re: [microsound] help for a beginner

I personally do a majority of my non-hardware work with CoolEditPro2 as an audio editor and Fruity Loops 5 (any VST compatible host will do, many of which are free or cheap) as primary loop construction/vst host. Add a wide variety of free, share, and commercial plug-ins in both vst and dxi format.

Some examples, direct from my 'Add' dropdown:

anything by ArcDev
anything by SmartElectronix
dblue Glitch
GRM Tools
Crazy Ivan
Ephonic LoFi
anything that uses granular synthesis
anything from here: http://jackdark.net/darkware.html
minion
Anarchy Effects
DiscoDSP
Reaktor5 (any version)
SupaTrigga
velocet vReorder
anything that does 'crappy' timestretching

Tons more out there.

Experiment, go nuts, see what comes out.
Export, chop, mutilate, reprocess, integrate.
Endless fun. =]

Look any of these up here at KVR for explanations and links:

Hope this helps,

Subject: [microsound] help for a beginner

Hi to all peoples on the list !

now - here's a simple explanation of a dificult position; I have a very strong wish to get into computer music making (improvised music is my target of interest), and I have absolutely no place to start from...well, maybe I have...I know that I should download MaxMSP first, and then upgrade it with Klaus Filip's lloopp program made specially for improvisation...
but to hear it from more experienced folks - is there any relevant site for beginners, some brief explanation for equipment, maybe some tutorials etc etc ??...
are there any other programs more suitable for beginners ?...

I would appreciate every information of value...
