Re: [microsound] myspce comunity
i don't have one either. i don't get it. they look terrible. why not just
put up a nice website? it seems mostly for kids, as far as i can see.
Then with all due respect you do not see very far into this particular
thing, Graham.
In a situation where one is guerilla promoting one's output, a MySpace Music
profile (not the personal ones, which is probably what you are familiar
with, and what most 'kids' have) provides all that MP3.com used to and more.
They host up to 4 of your songs, either downloadable or stream only, with an
accompanying image, lyrics, etc.
You can customize your profile heavily and easily- which in the case of most
profiles is a bad thing, but as with anything garbage in garbage out.
They are searchable and subscribe-able, massive networks of 'freinds' and
communites can be created by anyone, blog functions, events calendars,
messaging, etc. And nearly EVERYONE under the age of thirty has one, so
you can easily infect a massive fanbase if you have a mind to.
Also useful is a LiveJournal, if you have blogging tendencies.
