But that's a political issue as well, because it is an example why
it's so important to base your work on freely available technical
standards and to use Open-Source-ish software whereever possible. For
example Csound is still able to render eletronic music scores written
a decade or more ago. And even if Csound10 may not be able to do so
anymore, you will most likely be able to compile a Csound2 executable
to render your old file, maybe on an old Linux system. 

However how many closed-source commercial software isn't in existence
anymore? All the work written with these tools is gone now, it has
gone "out of business" with the original manufacturer. 

It's not as bad with Max: You will probably be able to reconstruct Max
patches in Pd 15 years from now provided you have a printed hardcopy.
