Re: [microsound] China
D22 for performances.
There is also a large Soviet-styled warehouse that's been converted
into artist spaces and design studios in Beijing. I can't remember
what it's called, but it has a website, and is pretty big and
impressive. Its name is a number of some sort.
the area is called dashanzi (大山子)art district 798, it's between
the airport and the city. i'm not a big fan of it, it has become very
commercial and isolated. those of you who are into the marxist stuff
that flies around here would have a treat analyzing that ; )
if you're lucky there may be something interesting there, it's very
large. the area used to be a german fireworks factory btw, very
beautiful bauhaus style. worth the taxi fare by itself.
also search for dorkbot beijing. there's also a very nice dvd shop
called the blue goat (near qinghua university west gate) and a great
obscure music store that unfortunately needs to keep moving. also
bookmark www.hidemyass.com to evade the great firewall to visit sites
such as bbc.
have fun : )
Have a great time!

Hello,
I am in China for a few weeks. Anyone knows about interesting
places in Guangzhou or Beijing right now?
Thanks,
Ivo
