"Piano" is a preset. "Trumpet", "Cello", "Hammond B4" are presets.
Clearly timbre is not the determinant in deciding what has "cultural  
worth".

(I'll skip the part about what "cultural worth" is worth. Schubert's  
music sat waiting for 50 years. "Cultural worth" lasts about as long  
as the current fashion. Such an attitude would have kept Acoustica  
from covering Aphex, which would have been tragic.)
