Re: [microsound] Zoom H4 anyone?
I have an H4 and love it. I used to use minidsic players and various mics,
but the ease in transfering data over via usb or the sd card makes me more
likely to use field recorded sounds.
i have recorded using multiple formats, mp3 to 96 khz. no problems. i have
not used other mics than the built in ones, so i can not comment on this,
but the built in mics have sounded good.
i have not used it as a 4 track recorder, nor have i used the various mics
and amp models in it.
batteries last a decent amount of time. it looks like a taser, so i have
been reluctant to pull it out of my pocket in some situations, for fear of
getting tasered myself. people might complain that the input levels can
only be set to three settings. the mics are sensitive to wind, so the small
foam windscreen is needed, but easily lost. the windscreen can also act as
a clown nose or for protection from frostbite her in New Hampshire
one trip i even used it as my mp3 player.

Subject: [microsound] Zoom H4 anyone?
Does anybody have some experience with the Zoom H4 Flash Disc Recorder?
I'm
looking for a good portable field recording device and I'm not sure
whether
I should go for the H4 or wait a few weeks for the H2. Any other
recommendations are most welcome, too.
Thanks a lot,
Tobias
