[microsound] Re: As cool as Microsound

Hi,
I don't think anyone's mentioned createdigitalmotion.com , which is not exactly aesthetic discussion on visual music, but is worth a look. I, too, wish for a place to kick around aesthetics of abstract moving image making, which is my main bailiwick at the moment. Most related sites are concerned with VJing and creating mobile decoration for sound, rather than with moving image as art. Roots in MTV and canned effects rather than Oskar Fischinger, Len Lye, Harry Smith, Stan Brakhage, etc. Check out http://www.hi-beam.net/cgi-bin/flicker.pl for Flicker (no, not that one, the other Flicker) , and the Frameworks mailing list, which might drive you nuts with petty minutiae and academic hairsplitting, at least as I recall. It did drive me nuts, a while back, so I haven't been on in a while. Oh, how about rhythmiclight.com - your question has me checking out my messy pile of bookmarks and remembering that there are some things I've been meaning to get back to myself. Maybe more to come. As I said, it's a mess, and also a busy day. Perhaps not the requested "as cool as Microsound," but few sites or groups could even hope to aspire to that. Hope that all's useful.

Eric Waldemar
