[microsound] speaker advice (ambisonics?)

hi,

my org (http://okno.be) just moved to a new space and we're  
installing a new sound system for microsoundish concerts, so only  
slightly OT ; )
we'd like to go for a quadrophonic/octophonic or other spatialized  
set-up.
so...does anyone have any idea which kind of setup would be nice,  
with which speakers?

i kind of have an octophonic small speakers with sub in mind, with a  
nice ambisonics patch in max-msp.
on the other hand,  a simple quadraphonic set of actives is easy to  
set-up and connect a mixer to.
the room is about 12 * 4.5m, so not very large.

any help greatly appreciated, i hope this isn't to much outside of  
the scope of this list.
