Im not the one who started this thread. I merely did what you did and
responded to one of the post's that caught my eye. But i did make
sure to read the whole thread so that i was in the know and wouldnt
say something in an uninformed manner.
Your right we should stick to microsound. I did feel that the topic
did merit a response as it is something that could effect everyone at
some point. Freedom is assaulted all over the world everyday, and i
feel it is something that we take for granted in many ways myself
included.
Back to sound shall we? Ill start. I recently purchased Akira
Rabelais's , "Spellewauerynsherde", (phew!) Word on the street is
that while vacationing somewhere in the scandinavian region(where
exactly escapes me at the moment, sorry!) he frequented some yard
sales and came upon old reel to reels. Not knowing what they were he
bought them anyway. Long story short they were accappela recordings
of an unkown(?) female vocalist(they were all operatic tracks)
I listened to the album well before i heard the backround story of
this project. It absolutely changed my perception of the album. Not
that i didnt enjoy it prior to knowing how this project came about,
but i did appreciate it all the more. He has brought some ones
creativity and passion back from the grave. An effort that was buried
in some ones attic and forgotten.
Now i have yet to read up on the whole project to verify if the whole
story is true.(its a very believable source) but i got to thinking
what if it wasnt? Its strange how some information can change your
perception of a sound piece(or any art for that matter)
Has any one else listened to this project? Can anyone confirm my
story? If not does the story change your perception of the said
pieces? I feel as if i would be let down for some reason if this
"romantic" back round story was not true.
Does information like this make a piece more valid? Allow one to
appreciate it more? I can look at Photos of Andrew Goldworthies work
but can i really appreciate the art as much as i would after i watched
a documentary on his process? Learned how hard and relentlessly he
works? His ideologies? Its an interesting topic and i would love to
hear what other people think.
Cheers

My apologies. I guess I missed the "very negative, purposeless
slamming of someone who is passionate about freedom" post. There are
PLENTY of other boards to rant to your hearts content about any topic
you like.
Let's stick to sound shall we? Myself included.

Yeah?
I thought i was just responding to a very negative and purposeless
post/comment by Kerry. What was the point of his post? Was it
positive? It more so seems that Kerry was the one venting
frustrations by slamming someone who is passionate about freedoms,
but you are free to interpret the situation any way you like.
