that said, i really like the album a lot, it's autechre to a T (or should i say B), with their signature harmonic/melodic/rhythmic palette in full effect. i feel like we've made great discoveries on the twin peaks of Draft7.30 and Untilted and have now settled into a groove with the best parts of those explorations.
there's not as much of a "noise" element on this album, which i think works really well. i've always been drawn to the melody in autechre, believe it or not, because of the sometimes sublime way it's supported by a circling digital mess, and because the harmonies remain very minimal in density.
i've only listened through the entire thing once (gotta keep up with my netlabel releases too, not to mention the new Clark) my initial impressions are that it's much more .microsound that most any other autechre record. i'm sure i have loads more to discover in here!
i don't especially care for the mondrian rip-off minimal art that accompanies the mp3s. my least favorite album design from them - i look forward to owning the vinyl though.
