[microsound] Re:[microsound] soundtrack to virtual destruction
Well...the stereotypical piece would have been Beethoven's 9th not
the 5th...which brings up for me the unexamined assumptions here
about the relationship for us of destruction and beauty...isn't it
that we find destruction beautiful because it IS destruction and what
we long for above all is apocalyptic annihilation?

I think the author reaches for the easy but tired trope of
'classical music underscoring violence' which is borrowed from
cheesy Hollywood movies
i.e. teasing out the 'elegance' in destruction by musically evoking
a ballet-like grace, usually accomplished by slowing down the motion
what would be a better choice of a soundtrack to virtual destruction?
other ideas?
