Re: [microsound] soundtrack to virtual destruction
The strongest is silence. There is nothing more "violent" than when
there is sound in a movie but when the violence begins it is totally
silent. It can be virtually unbearable.....
Hm.... maybe very quiet sounds could be worse. Just a high pitched sine
wave for example. Or a click here and a crackle there. Never heard it in
a movie or something but that may be even stronger than total silence.
And of course original sounds of violence, especially voices. There is
nothing worse than a human voice screaming in panic.

I think the author reaches for the easy but tired trope of 'classical
music underscoring violence' which is borrowed from cheesy Hollywood
movies
i.e. teasing out the 'elegance' in destruction by musically evoking a
ballet-like grace, usually accomplished by slowing down the motion
what would be a better choice of a soundtrack to virtual destruction?
other ideas?
