probably not. but we can clarify what our priorities are.

if our priority is for streaming the files, then a playlist is the best answer.
if our priority is for downloading the files, then a podcast [or
torrent] are our best answers.

my thought is that the streaming is a priority, but this is only based
on my opinion and no actual data. maybe list members can write a note
about how they'd like to access the project files [download or
stream]?

also, itunes is the player that most of the complaints have been
about. i'd have to say that itunes is one of the worst players out
there [memory hog and not easily expandable (ogg anyone?)]. if you do
it the 'itunes way' you are fine. but maybe that's not the best way
...

welcome to my world. you think this is a pain, what about something
even simpler, rendering HTML? [ie sucks!]

this is a flash mp3 player. we could use that, or something like that.
flash is not open source, but maybe that doesn't matter so much.

usually, this comes with a whole web page, as part of a project page
design. what we're talking about here is just making the audio files
available to people who want them. on the mcdonna page, if you want
all the files, you have to click and save each link. the podcast
allows you to download the whole set with one click [which is better
in my book].

it is more decentralized, more responsibility is on the users. they
have more freedom [which format], but they have to understand how to
do more than click. maybe they don't want to, but as digital
musicians, i don't think it's expecting too much that they should have
some facility with digital audio formats and players.

i agree with paulo that more choice is better. if we ever get a page
up for microspace, we can include a flash player. that can be a
requirement.
