[microsound] guitar amp/sim advice

Hello,

I have been looking into picking up a POD from Line 6, probably the X3  
if I do. I am wondering what people's opinion and experience is with  
these devices? Good? Bad? Worth the dollars spent? In comparison I  
have used Amplitude, and Guitar Rig 2 & 3. I am not totally satisfied  
with the results from these software packages. I want to be able to  
record sweet electric guitar sounds into Ableton or Logic Studio, and  
then apply effects onto these recordings. What piqued my interest in  
the POD was the recent xlr8r tv episodes of Christopher Willits, in  
which he uses a POD. How are the POD built in effects and amps?

I plan on getting to try one out before I purchase, but your overall  
experience with one if you have had the pleasure would be great to  
hear. Thanks in advance.
