but seriously, colo-rectal cancer can be treated and cured if  
detected early enough
if you have a family history of colo-rectal cancer then do yourself a  
favor and get tested as soon as possible
this is the most treatable cancer that exists and yet it is one of  
the top killers of all cancers

while the doctor is 'in' there s/he typically removes any polyps  
found which if left untreated can turn cancerous

also, these days they will put you under with anesthesia so you don't  
have to endure the uncomfortable procedure
while they were wheeling me into the OR the nurse excitedly described  
to me the drug cocktail they were going to shoot into my IV
the last thing she said to me was: 'you're *really* gonna like this!'
she was right
