I'm curious if anybody else has childhood formative 'microsound' experiences that they'd like to share. Anybody got a good story? What would you look back on now and point to as your earliest 'microsonic' experience? What, from your early life, made you interested in doing the sonic work you're doing now?
when i was a kid we used to go to the beach every Saturday and build a fire and cook food on it - summer or winter, just as long as it wasn't raining. after it'd got dark, and we were back at home, if my dad was in the right mood he'd set up the stereo speakers in front of the sofa, get me to sit right in the middle, turn off all the lights, tell me to close my eyes, and then he'd put on a record called 'Celestial Seasonings' or 'Celestial Seasons' (must write to him and ask exactly what it was) - electroacoustic music from the 70s/early 80s - or some of Pink Floyd's early trippy stuff. that was what did it for me.
