I wasn't clear here... I'm not saying we need/have to accept someone
staring at their screen/equipment as performance, I'm saying that we
should accept performances which don't include traditional musical
virtuosity/musicianship. This might include music and graphical elements
(as you mentioned), dance, film, or who knows what else. That's an area
that interests me and that few seem to have explored much (or perhaps I
am showing my ignorance in this matter, are youse out there doing
this?).
