   Sometimes i "need" people to listen; it is a matter of what the 
situation requires of the audience/listener. i have worked in video since 
the introduction of the porta-pack, but "kick ass visuals" are used only if 
they are an essential component of the work. there must be an initial intent 
to compose music for video performance or video for musical performance. ive 
shown a tape of my video "improvisations" behind funkstorung, who certainly 
didn't decide the content, but it was prepared for an occasion that was 
easily transferred to their performance.
