well, king felix (not a laptop player) would sometimes go to the back of the 
room and make a cup of tea while his systems played, return to the stage, 
sit, drink his tea, smoke a cigarette, and then stand up for his wind-driven 
solo or to perform a keyboard passage. the audience was amused (entertained) 
by the eccentricity of this, and came to expect it. if the action/non-action 
DIDN'T occur, they were quite disappointed.
it comes down to a matter of what is expected sometimes, and what is the 
etiquette of the situation and the space in which it is presented.
