Re: [microsound] whoopsy

When people ask me what kind of music do I listen to, I dont answer
"microsound" or "glitch", I am usualy baffled by this kind of questions, and
I find myself struglling to describe how the thing actually sounds.
sometimes I just dismiss them with "electronic" or "experimental",
but when I tried this on my grandfather, who is quite a classical music
buff, he said "but that is how you make the music, not what it sounds
like... in music what matters is what you hear in the end" (of cousre he
said it in a totally different language so this isnt realy a quote).
I dont feel comfotarble with words that are supposed to define a certain
kind of music, mainly because words are not music, so they cant realy
represant it. of course there is use for that kind of generalization for
communication, but when it comes to the music that I love, I find it hard
to label it as easely as I label "house", "jungle" or "fuck-step", and I
dont know if its because of the diversity of that music or just my pride :)
I sometimes ask myself if I listen to this music because of it being
"undergroud", or maybe because of it being so different, and when/if this
music will become mainstream, will I still listen to it or will I find what
will be the new underground? (slow atonal melodies produced by trained
livestock)

anyway, I can say cincerely that all of these questions about and reasons
for listening to music, dont realy matter to me as long as I know what music
I enjoy now and where I can get it, preferably without paying too much money
(if I had it I would give it away :)
they do make good conversation material though.
I also have a feeling I will always have music to listen to, theres even
some o.k mainstream artists you know.
