Re: [microsound] aube... and more
Thanks for the suggestions, I'll try one of them out...but I'd also be
interested in hearing some of the "harsher" releases, any pointers?
_wired trap_ on self abuse. it's very loop-based like most of his work, but
for some reason i find it entrancing instead of annoying. very nice buzzing
and scything noise-scapes made from the sound of wire sculptures, it has a
texture that's a bit more tactile than the later releases.
_purification to numbness_ on rrrecords "pure" series is quite harsh,
especially for anyone with little tolerance for high frequencies. i think
it was done using just the sound of one voltage controlled oscillator. if
memory serves, it's actually fairly random, less loopy, more "pure noise."
should be available for <$8 from rrrecords. i think the web address is
www.rrrecords.com.
_substructural penetration_ is worth looking into, as i said before, and it
does get pretty noisy.
What's the Aube/Z.Karkowski Cd like?
haven't heard it. anyone? and that brings to mind a karkowski related
question - has anyone heard sensorband?
apropo of nothing, i bought the reynols _blank tapes_ release on trente
oiseaux. pretty nice stuff that exploits a previously un-used (i think)
glitch - tape hiss. very nice processing work that turns simple white noise
into textured, hissing sound sculpture that occasionally gets a bit louder
than most oiseaux releases. i dig it.
