I'm really sorry about Napster because I've been promising myself to
check it out and finally never got around to take a look at it.
I suppose it must be a blow to about 90% of teenagers around the world
and pirates and all but I think that the saddest thing is the
influence of the music industry on such matters. I think that the
copyright infringement is the least of the worries of the big fishes
of the music industry. It is rather the millions of $$ they don't
gain (they don't loose it either...) when some of the tunes are
distributed via mp3 and other electronic means.
What I find really really sad is that all the
musicians/artists/whoever that are signed with those huge
recording/publishing/distributing monsters don't get up and say how
they are f**ked by them. If most artists are fine with about 5% of
their Cd retail price (+ perhaps 10% of copyright where applicable)
they must not have a very high esteem.
just my (incoherent) 0.02$.
