Re: [microsound] * off -icmc



Hello. I've not heard university composers in residence or on the faculty
use the term "serious" to describe what they do and since even the
composers on this list that take their own work with a grain of salt,
would consider themselves "serious" to a certain extent, I wasn't sure of
the accuracy of the term as it was used. No biggie. My concern really
lies in hearing people "young and old," trying to create or perpetuate a
separatist mindset. I understand that you (caleb~k) were frustrated
partly because you were witnessing some of this very thing at the
Off-icmc event, but as I'm sure you are aware, it doesn't do any good to
perpetuate it. Academic or not, it's all good. Peace, Dale.
