my colleague (who knows about my interest in electronic music)
brought me today a printout of an article by Bruno Spoerri which was
published in the Neue Zuericher Zeitung last friday. The title of this
article is very glitchy ;) "Technische Fehler als Impuls zur Kreativität"
meaning glitches (well, more or less) as an inspiration for creativity
(maybe someone with better knowledge of English could improve the
translation). There he mentioned the problems inherent with analog
synthesizers (before the introduction of digitized parameters and storage),
namely not having the possiblity of recalling sounds exactly. This lead in
his opinion to situations where the player would have to adapt his musical
concept to the new sound/situation, i.e. the player had to improvise due to
this technical restriction.

Maybe you can get the article from http://www.nzz.ch.
