field recordings compilation

Recordists/Phonographers,

The Phonography group is collecting field/situation recordings for
a compilation. Please pass this message around to interested folks as our
little mailing list is pretty small.

submissions should meet the following criteria:

1) media: DAT, MD, CDR, cassette. The idea being that we try
and get the highest quality possible.

2) recordings of original material created by the submitting
artist.

3) supply some text or discussion about the recording as the
content merits such.

4) submit works centered around field recordings: soundwalks,
collages, situation recording, post processed recordings, etc.
The central theme here is that the material is based on location/field
recording of some sort. I'd like to see a range of submissions though,
anywhere from straight-up environmental sound to cut-up collage work.
When you are tired of listening to me blabbering just, do what you do, and
send it in.

5) participants should send in at least 3 minutes of
engaging, provoking, or otherwise mezmerizing material as single or
multiple pieces. these can be as short as 4 seconds but no longer than
7-8 minutes.

Mail your submissions to:

The deadline for the first round will be the 1st of November
(2000). If all goes well, we'll do this again.

Interested parties, please email me and let me know that you plan
to participate. I will be collecting your email addresses so I can let
you know how things are developing, to send reinders, and to guage the
amount of participation this will get. send mail to:
