firewire hard drives

I was trying to figure out firewire hard drives a little while back, 
yes the data transfer rate tends to be a lot faster than scsi devices 
but the hard drives themselves don't tend to be any faster [7200rpm]. 
be sure to get a firewire drive not a firewire drive that converts 
scsi or any other device. There are / were several out there.
