coil: constant shallowness leads to evil

hi,

i wonder wether this was mentioned before i joined or wether it has gone
unmentioned. i have a bit split feelings about coil, so far i mainly
liked their alter ego "time machines", but this one appears to be just
brilliant. it is about 60 minutes of realtively pure & raw synth sounds,
only very loose structured, largely without a conventional rhythm. sound
shifting and evolving. the sounds are quite raw sounding, so that i
assume some pulse waves etc., manipulated but not very much worked on to
get a "rich" or "fat" sound. the fascinating thing is that at the same
time the whole thing actually does have some "pop" appeal, probably
mainly due to the vocals on track 2, which is about 13 minutes. but it
doesn't really loose this kind of feeling throughout.
on the cd you find a warning: "may cause drowsiness - do not play while
driving or operating machinery". i think this is quite appropriate, when
in an open state of mind you can float on into other spheres ...

i am quite surprised and i believe that this one has enough parts to
like _and_ enough edges to get quite a few plays and maybe last quite
some time.
