so far as abstract stuff is concerned, you have to get _cricklewood_.
it's a pretty unique, minimal analogue record. for some reason i keep
making a mental connection between this album & stockhausen's
_mantra_... i think mostly because the timbres & tonal progressions
have more to do with contemporary music than say mille plateaux.
anyway, that & the "national kid/oysterpoint" 12" (which is in fact drum
n bass) are probably my 2 favorite david kristian records.

the remix album _woodworking_ is nice, if you like remix albums. &
there's a split with sian (japanese noise group if memory serves?)
called _tacoma narrows bridge_ which probably leans more towards what he
did on _room tone_.

actually, if you wait a bit, there's a pretty intriguing record coming
out soon on alien8 which is a collaboration between kristian, sam
shalabi & alexandre st-onge, probably appealing to people on this list.
expect something very minimal.

really, what i like best about david kristian are his live shows; in
particular this one set at hotel2tango in montréal last year, where he
did a pretty straight ambient-to-beats progression at the perfect rhythm
throughout. not to mention he was playing with way old machines looking
like 1950 ibm computers. old school, but what the hell, if it's good.
(i.e. is playing with a machine that looks like a 2000 ibm computer a
requisite?)
