Yep, I get that with the Sony MZ-R55.
The lithium battery also drains real fast-- like my cell phone.
General widespread problem, from what I understand.
Another problem with the sony's with batteries is that
if your lithium battery is totally dead, you can't run soley
from the screw-on double A battery pack. It just doesn't
work (!). You need some power in the lithium to access
the double-A's. Really weird and a pain in the ass.
The input recording is not adjustable on the fly, but on the
other hand the automatic levels are excellent, and the compression
is very, very good. I often find things sound a little better on MD
because of the tight compression. And you can change the
Mic sensitivity on the fly... but when it comes down to it,
the Sharp's seem much better.
