Re: [microsound] boston?
If there's one thing Boston is great for, it's record stores. The
suggestions of Twisted Village and that other place were right-on. While
you're in Harvard Square, you can also visit CD Spins and Planet, which are
used-CD shops. Newbury Comics is mostly new, but they carry a good selection
of less obscure stuff. In Your Ear is mostly used vinyl, Phase Four
isentirely used CDs with an amphasis on rock and prog, but worth checking
out anyways.
If you're downtownon Newbury Street, you can hit Mystery Train (used CDs),
Mars (mostly punk rock, jazz, and a lot of vinyl), and another CD Spins and
a Newbury Comics as well. Around the corner is Looney Tunes, worth digging
thru thier vinyl every so often. I've found gems there.
As for events: this coming Sunday at the Berwick Research Institute in
Roxbury is a noise-ish show with Ron Anderson's PAK (kinda a cross between
the Ruins and Mission of Burma), Wayne Rogers and Kate Village (guitar noise
duoby the nice folks who run Twisted Village, ex-Magic Hour, Crystalized
Movements, etc), Emil Beaulieau (aka RRRon Lessard), and a woman named Jamie
McLaughlin who usually plays drum machines in subway stations. Check out
www.berwickinstitute.org for directions.
Next week, there will be a quartete of nmperign + Axel Dorner and Andrea
Neuman at the Church of the Advent in Boston. Dunno the address or date
offhand, but ask Greg: greyelkgel@xxxxxxxxxx
Hope this info is useful! Now, if you're looking for places to eat, email me
