how about ice in a box of salt.

i think there are some ice flow recordings from way up north that are rather
interesting as well.

jonathan storm of port ludlow, washington, did some rather fantastic
recordings of ice flows...he used to have a label called "earthtunes" that
may or may not still be available.  i think douglas quinn also did a similar
recording as well.

crawl unit did something similar in idea, although i don't remember if it
was ice or not...

the phonography mailing list website would probably have links to more of
this type of thing.
